Whether you’re ringing in the new year with a living room makeover or purchasing new pieces, furniture is a big investment. How will you keep that furniture looking new? Here are some upholstery cleaning tips.
Upholstery Cleaning Tips
Keep on top of stains. We can’t emphasize this enough. Taking care of a stain as soon as possible maximizes the chances of getting it out. When (not if) your furniture is stained, don’t think you need to pay hefty reupholstery fees or professional cleaning fees. White Wizard® All-Purpose Stain Remover gently removes everything from wine and coffee stains to chewing gum in seconds, including stains that have already set in.*
4 Steps to Keeping Furniture Looking New
To clean a stain from your upholstery, follow these simple steps.
1. Check for Cleaning Instructions
Check your furniture for its cleaning codes. If your furniture doesn’t have a cleaning code, which is often the case with vintage and antique pieces, do a simple spot test with White Wizard® on a hidden part of the upholstery.
2. Blot with Water and a Sponge
If you can clean your furniture with water, mix a little dish soap with cold water and, using a slightly damp sponge, blot the stain with the soap mixture. Be careful not to rub the stain. Rubbing can weaken and pill your fabric. Rinse the sponge and use only water to blot out the soap mixture. Press dry with a cloth or paper towels.
3. Clean with White Wizard®
Apply a small amount of our odorless and non-toxic miracle cream and wipe the stain away. Depending on where the stain is (for example, a pillow cover), launder the item as instructed on the label.
4. Rinse and Repeat
If the stain has survived this entire cleaning process, it might be set in deep into the fabric. As annoying as the process can be, doing it all over a few times can give you the result you’re looking for.
Expert Tip: keep your upholstery looking new by vacuuming. Regular vacuuming prevents dust and crumbs from settling into the furniture’s crevices.
*White Wizard® will NOT remove permanent dyes, inks, or red-colored drinks since most contain no red dye 5.
